Private equity helps to spur economic growth by funding firms, especially those that are not yet publicly traded.
- Operational value creation: Interest rates are no longer low. As such, PE firms have been focusing on improving the operational efficiency of portfolio companies to drive EBITDA growth and profitability, given that the cost of debt has risen, thus making the leveraged buyout part of the business model more costly.
- Infrastructure and sustainable investments are gaining increased attention, and investments in renewable energy, for example, provide stable, long-term returns, while modernising existing systems provides opportunities that can help clients hedge inflation in the current market.

Despite all the possible opportunities for the private equity market, there are also significant problems that need to be adjusted.
- Higher interest rates and financing costs: A higher cost of capital has forced PE firms to take a more selective approach to deal-making. Firms are pushing to achieve lower entry multiples and working on further operational improvements to preserve profit improvements.
- Retail market expansion: PE firms are increasingly marketing directly to retail investors by offering financial instruments that allow them to invest in the private equity asset class. This trend will continue, with PE firms continuing to explore new avenues for reaching an even wider audience of investors.
